The project had taken heavy inspiration from the Wizard of Oz and its colourful array for characters.
Dorothy is Dead is a cross-media murder mystery about Detective Toto, a hardened alcoholic homicide investigator and his mission to solve a brutal murder case. The death of an affluent young woman who lived with several people who may have had reason to kill her because of her cold actions and a torrid affair. The cross-media format allowed for a story to be told whilst allowing the audience to interact an influence the play via their mobile devices.
As part of the project, a treatment was developed to plot out how the story would play out narratively (excluding the cross-media which would be followed up later on).
A script was also developed to work alongside the treatment, leading straight to the interval.
The 4 main characters were all created with character diamonds, casting calls, story arc (using Freytag's Pyramid) and costume all in considered.
A storyboard that leads up to the interval was developed, showing how the story will carry out as well as the points in which the audience interacts with their surroundings.
